Custom Projects

Custom projects are just an email away...

I just wanted to tell you how much I LOVE it! He's going to love it. You pulled the random thoughts I had and turned it into something so cool! The reclaimed wood absolutely makes the whole piece. It's perfect. It will match the house so well!"
- Addie B.
Custom products can be a perfect, one-of-a-kind way to commemorate a wedding, anniversary, house purchase, or other special event. They can also be wonderful thank you gifts, or simply help you address a want or need in your own home.
We work with people to personalize the trays through a series of options, such as:
  • Size: it can be specific to fit a coffee table, or a board taller than the customer.
  • Antique wood: newer wood will lower the cost, antique wood will often have more character. Location may also matter.
  • Imagery: whether a starting set of designs or one you have in mind, I'll never take a job I don't think I can accomplish.
  • Wording: custom trays may include custom wording (last name, street, quote), with a set of fonts to choose from.
  • Handles: there are various looks to help tailor the tray even further.
  • Marker: weddings or forever homes may include an anchor, heart, or star to indicate a specific location.

The Word document below can walk you through a series of options to help you start to design a tray that will also meet your budget. Whether you complete this as a starting point or just reach out with an email inquiry, we can clarify the exact details and cost so everything is clear before any project begins. That also will then allow the production time to be estimated.

It all starts just by emailing [email protected]!

Tremendous, what a beautiful piece of art. It will hold significant meaning... Thank you for the meaningful time and effort you have placed into this purchase. It is rare to have such a personalized experience."

This tray was a gift for a couple getting married on Cape Cod. The heart was at the beach where their ceremony was held.

This tray reflected a  customer choosing the darker wood with a lot of character and dock cleats to best fit the couple's taste.

This repeat customer came to the barn with specific ideas. She shopped through the wood on hand and chose an 1800's barn board with the original paint still on and crackled.

The paint was sealed in with a number of food-safe coats. She had a particular phrase, "for the love of cheese", that she wanted on the board. A larger and playful font was used to match her desired style.

When it was all said an done, she had a custom charcuterie board markedly taller than she was. She has used it a number of times since, loading it up for parties, family gatherings, and yoga and herb classes.

This was a great example of how a visit to the barn can really help tease out little details and customize a project to best meet the customer's goals.

This couple sought art for the wall with specific dimensions and colors, to hang above the windows. Beyond that, they were unsure on artwork.
The end product fit the space as they desired, while layering on the colors they wanted in a way that made the milling marks on the wood more noticeable. The wood itself was from an 1800's home on land that tracked back to the 1600's. This was not far from where the customers lived.
The artwork was a surprise and scaled well with their piece, leaving them thrilled with the end result.

The 5-year anniversary is wood, and this Nantucket stencil was special ordered to help a husband commemorate the beautiful day and place where this couple's wedding took place, including the heart where the church was located.

The back of the tray can be useful, too. For one wedding gift, the names and date were added, with hearts incorporated into the date.

These two trays show that the customization is a collaborative effort to figure out what will work best. It all starts with a simple email to [email protected]!

Bonnie's favorite coastal symbol is a whale. It will appear in different ways if someone's visiting with her. With builders working on a renovation project, that had been harder to do for a bit.

They'd been working for a while to get her house finished in time for her to enjoy a renovated space over the summer. They capped off their perfect timing and their finished product with a gift to enhance her enjoyment of her new space. Even better: this is wood that the builders themselves had, allowing us to partner a little more on a custom thank-you for their business.

Congratulations, Bonnie!
